After the adoption by unanimous vote of the United Nations resolution 1701, August the 14th, a ceasefire has came into force between Israel and Lebanon, after a month and four days of conflict.
They are in Lebanon approximately one million evacuees escaped from the bombed villages and cities: 45 % are children and young people. More than a thousand persons were killed, while the wounded are nearly four thousand.
Like always in these conflicts, the greater part of the victims is civil and is they, above all, who pays the consequences. The roads and the bridges collapsed, the scarceness of drinkable water and electricity, the lack of sanitary attendance makes the return in their houses of even more difficult for those people who have already has endured 34 interminable days of conflict. Houses for the greater part destroyed.
However, finally, with the suspension of the clashes, aids can now be carried and reach those people - many - who are in need. A long time will be necessary before the situation can set off towards normality, but the first steps can already be completed.
For this new emergency, Perigeo Lazio, with Azione Sociale, has launch the «PeriLebanon» operation to support the local population, especially in the Baalbek Region.
This mission is divided in two phases.
The first phase consists in the collection of medicinal and provisions (but also toys) to send to the populations.
The second phase will engage our Association in the shipment and the delivery of the collected material. An Operating Nucleus of our volunteers will follow directly the shipment of the material and will distribute it, in order to avoid risks of dispersions and distractions.
The project, moreover, envisage the dispatch on site of a team of doctors. We are, finally, concerting a collaboration with the CIMIC of the UNIFIL contingent on the field.
